Just Stuff

This has been a nice week.  We are finally getting some cooler weather.  I've been trying to catch up on things that I neglected during the heat wave due to lack of energy.  I'm slowly trying to get all the clutter off my kitchen countertops, put away things that I just brought in and dropped then sat my old body down in front of the fan.

Our garden is very dry.  I refuse to water because we have a well.  It's never gone dry in forty years, but who knows!  I don't want to take that chance.  Even so, we have an abundance of tomatoes.

Last evening I made a very simple pasta dish with some of the tomatoes.

I cooked penne and some other twisty pasta that I had, drained it and set it aside.
It was topped with:
   garlic
   basil
   fresh tomatoes
   butter
   olive oil

I sliced about four cloves of garlic very thin, put it in a small glass dish, added a nice chunk of butter and microwaved it for 40 seconds, then set it aside.  I do not like to put garlic directly in the pan because if it gets brown, it's bitter.
I chopped and seeded the two large tomatoes and put them in a large frying pan and drizzled some olive oil over them, cooking them till some of the liquid evaporated.  Then I added the basil, garlic with butter and the pasta.  I just cooked it a few minutes longer and served it with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

This morning I was trying to write out checks to pay bills.  I do this at the kitchen table, with all my papers spread out in a somewhat organized manner.  Needless to say, I had lots of help!

First Tipper had to have a belly rub.

The two little guys, best friends 4 ever, were eating breakfast.  Check out the crossed tails!

Pretty soon they had finished and were on the kitchen table too.  Now they want to play.  Then play turns into biting and fighting!

Izzy is preparing to take a big bite out of Penny!

Penny is taking a bite out of Izzy's ear!  Meanwhile all my papers have been strewn all over the place!!!

I finally finished in spite of the wrestling match.  Within minutes of clearing my papers away, they were tired out and once again best friends 4 ever!

Had to inclued a shot of Deiter!  He's checking out the situation in the bath tub.  They like to play with the bead chain that keeps the drain stopper from getting lost.  Meanwhile Izzy is after his tail.  The little heathens have torn the shower curtain.  Guess I better wait till they grow up and learn to behave before replacing it.  Whenever that will be!!!

Wish I had some hooking to show, but I'm between projects.  Don't know what I want to work on next.  I'll be going to the Blue and Gray hook-in tomorrow.  Should have some good rug pictures then.

  4. Pat, I love the kittie antics! How do you get anything done. I would just watch them all day long. What a wonderful way to pay the bills - only kitties could make it fun.

  7. Hey Pat - your post reminds that the gentle, small things in life are so important, and that the important things (bills) dont' need to take the forefront of our lives. Enjoyed. /deb

  8. Dieter looks so huge on that bathtub. And dinner looked yummy. We have no tomatoes- plants and green tomatoes, but not even a lot of them. But I have volunteer squash like you wouldn't believe. In fact, I am pretty sure one of the volunteer plants came from that mammoth hubbard squash you and I canned last fall.
