A Day in Old Bedford Village

Hi! It's been a while since I posted. Nothing much has been going on rug-wise to report. Yesterday Linda and Rick invited us to go along to a black powder gun show at Old Bedford Village in Bedford, PA. It was a lovely day!

For those of you who have never been there, the village portrays the life of late 18th and early 19th century Pennsylvania. During the summer, there are events almost every weekend with museum volunteers and employees dressed in period costumes, and demonstrations of early handcrafts.

Yesterday, the village wasn't really open to visitors, just the gun show. But we walked around anyhow. The horses were roaming at will throughout the grounds, chomping the new spring grass. Look how huge this guy is!

The fruit trees were in bloom. Ducks were swimming on the pond. And aren't these turtles delightful? There were siting on this clump of grass, warming their shells in the sunlight.

The guys went in to check out the gun show and then went to the stream that runs through the property and did some fishing. Linda and I brought our rughooking along. She is still deciding what will look best on her sheep. I am working on the background of my flower basket. Neither of us have had much time to work on rugs lately, so this was a good opportunity to relax, hook and talk. Don't we look like two yahoos having a tailgate rughooking party??? LOL!

The guy returned from fishing without catching anything. I should have gotten a picture of them with their fly rods. But here they are, resting their weary legs after walking along the stream all afternoon.

We drove home on back roads through the
mountains and lovely valleys. I think nothing is so beautiful as this land in the springtime!

In the 'business' part of life-

We got a new shipment of wool in the shop on Thursday. There are some lovely colors and textures! These are the latest offerings from Heavens to Betsy, and we are very pleased with the quality.

So stop by Grant Street Wookworks, 240 Grant Street, Chambersburg, PA to see the latest!

Keep on hookin'!
