Green

It's becoming the color of my life.
Or at least my food.

Since I rejoined Weight Watchers six weeks ago I have eaten more green stuff than in the previous year.  And ya know what?  I'm beginning to like it.  It's especially gratifying when the numbers on the scale keep going down each week.  Slowly, but at least down.

I hope this time the healthy eating becomes the norm.

Last Wednesday my friend Marian and I took a drive to East Berlin to the Manning's hand weaving and yarn shop.  There were several books I had ordered in preparation for a knit-along that will be starting Saturday on Ravelry.  I'll save the sweater stuff for a later post.  Guess what color yarn I'm using....  GREEN!  Yikes!!!

We also visited with Carol at Woolgatherings, the rug hooking and knitting shop.  We had a great time talking for several hours.  She had a series of knitting pattern books for sale that I could just not resist.

We admired Carol's lovely back yard.  She spends a lot of time planting and weeding to keep it this nice.

Then it was lunch time.  Oh, the treat of the day!  Sidney restaurant on the square in East Berlin.
Chef Annis is Iron Chef contender material.  He elevates food to an art form.

I don't know when the building was constructed, but it is old.  They have kept the colonial atmosphere intact, with a few modern art pieces for interest.

Marian had the open-faced haddock sandwich topped with jumbo lump crab meat and seasoned fries.

OK, you say-  is this on Pat's healthy food plan???
The beauty of Weight Watchers is that you can eat whatever you choose.  You just have to account for it and stay within your points budget.  I saved all my daily points for this one great happy splurge.

I had the vegetable quiche with greens and balsamic vinaigrette.  Oh my, the quiche was scrumptious, but the salad was the star of the plate!  On the porcelain spoon is an assortment of olives and candied walnuts.  Yum!

We just had to take a peek at the dessert menu, but in prudence, decided to pass.

All in all it was a fun day out.

On the home front, the kitties have been enjoying the cooler weather.  Here Izzy is hiding.  She thinks if she stays really still and tries to camouflage herself, no one will notice he.  She can do a pretty good job sometimes.

She and Penny are still best friends.  It's nice to snuggle up together on these cool evenings.

Tipper is less stressed since she is spending part of each day alone in Zip's bedroom.  She's eating well and seems much happier.  I guess we all need some peace and quiet at times.

My big fat fuzzard, Deiter is enjoying his Mom time.

I love this cat!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Oh YUM! I feel healthier just by reading this post! Would certainly enjoy a meal at Sidney. We have too many franchised restaurants near where I live and the main ingredients seem to be salt and a belly ache... lol! Glad the kitties are all settling down... maybe it was just the extreme heat and humidity of the summer...

  7. Hi Pat
I meant to comment on the last post but somehow never got round to it.

So good to hear you are losing weight, I've lost a bit just by cutting down and do feel better for it.

Somehow food isn't quite so important as I get older so its not so difficult and my digestive system doesn't like overload.

Keep it up and just think, next
Summer will be so much more bearable being that bit lighter.

The cats all look happy and I'm glad Tipper is happy now. Our Rowan is a bit like that and spends a lot of time under the bed.

    Hugs

  10. Hi Pat!
Good for you - Keep up the good work! Did you put those chop sticks in that pic just for me :)
I feel right at home! Eating healthy is really easy here as food costs are sky high AND I have to walk everywhere - the weight just drops right off when you don't have your car, he,he.
I've always wanted to go to Mannings - it's on my "things to do" list! Your day out looked just like my kind of day!
    Hugs to you, Jill
